The Vertuo Pop+ is the sensible starting point. Nespresso’s current US support material lists it for espresso through 12-ounce XL and the 18-ounce Pour-Over Style capsule, though an app update may be needed. It stays shorter and less deep than Vertuo Next. Its 25.4-ounce tank, small capsule bin, and the cup clearance needed for a carafe are the taxes you pay for that easier footprint.
Vertuo Next earns its place through shape and refill rhythm, not exclusive capsule access. Its 5.5-inch width is useful on a crowded counter, but the 16.8-inch depth matters on a shallow one. The 37-ounce tank reduces refills; Wi-Fi and Bluetooth handle updates and guidance. Choose it when width is the constraint, not simply because you want an 18-ounce brew.
VertuoPlus remains the nicest machine to touch. A tap of the lever opens and closes the head, and its tank rotates to the side or back. It gives up the current 12- and 18-ounce capsule range and connected updates, but its larger bin and easier loading make daily ownership feel less cramped.

Vertuo Next feedback is more polarized across retailer and long-term owner discussions, with repeated reports involving leaks, error lights, and connectivity. Those reports cannot establish a failure rate, and current production may differ, but they are consistent enough that we would buy from a retailer with straightforward returns.
