What the BDC465 manual covers

This Luxe Brewer book covers both BDC415 Glass and BDC465 Thermal, including batch brewing, single serve, cold brew, custom settings and delayed start. The keep-warm heater instructions explicitly apply only to BDC415. BDC465 owners should follow the thermal-carafe parts of the shared USCM B25 edition.

Set hardness before brewing

Basket and thermal-carafe care

Unplug the brewer and let hot parts cool. Discard the grounds and paper, rinse the basket and mesh filter, and wash more thoroughly with warm soapy water and a soft brush. Empty the carafe after use; the manual advises against leaving brewed coffee in it overnight.

The brewer’s descale setting

Remove the water filter. Prepare the agent as its maker directs and fill to the 1000 mL descale line. With the empty basket and lidded carafe installed, select the descale icon in Settings. When FILL appears, refill with fresh water for rinsing; wash out the tank and carafe afterward.

What you’ll need

This is a drip brewer. Its basket and carafe cleaning instructions differ from a Barista espresso machine’s tablet-and-disc cycle.

Start with the supplies you already have. Use the official BDC465 manual for quantities, control sequences and the complete rinse procedure.

Daily care

A soft-bristled brush and gentle dish soap

For the removable basket, mesh filter and carafe, the manual allows warm soapy water and a soft brush. Let parts cool, then rinse and dry after washing.

Descaling

Descaling agent approved for the Luxe Brewer

The BDC465 manual specifies preparation according to the agent manufacturer’s instructions. Confirm a current product with Breville and follow the brewer’s DESCALE and rinse sequence.

Supply references checked October 5, 2026. These are preparation notes, not a replacement for your machine’s maintenance instructions.
