The short version
The Ninja Luxe Cafe Mini is not a shrunken Premier with every feature preserved. It is a more deliberate trade: the ES301 narrows the machine to 10.24 inches, keeps the grinder, scale, assisted tamp, and brewing guidance, then swaps hands-free frothing for a manual steam wand and drops rapid cold brew.
That makes the Mini more interesting than a budget cut. If you want to texture milk yourself, its manual wand is a feature. If you want to press a button while the machine handles foam, read our Luxe Cafe Premier review instead.

What the smaller machine actually keeps
Ninja still gives the Mini the parts that remove espresso arithmetic. The grinder offers 60 settings, the machine recommends a starting point, and weight-based dosing measures grounds for the selected basket and drink. Adaptive brewing monitors temperature and pressure. You still lock a real portafilter into the group and tamp the coffee, but fewer decisions arrive at once.
The five drink paths are double espresso, triple espresso, classic coffee, rich coffee, and coffee over ice. The last one matters: it is brewed to stand up to melting ice, not the Premier's rapid cold-brew program. Those are different drinks and should not be marketed as interchangeable.
The footprint win is real, but measure depth too
At 10.24 inches wide, 12.17 inches deep, and 13.43 inches high, the Mini is unusually narrow for an espresso machine that also houses a burr grinder. Ninja calls it 30% smaller than the Luxe Cafe Pro. The low height helps under cabinets, though you still need space above the hopper to add beans and at the side or rear to remove the water tank.
Manual milk is the dividing line
The steam wand is for a buyer who enjoys the small craft of milk texture. You control jug position, temperature, and air. That is slower to learn than the Premier's hands-free system, but it also lets you choose a glossy, thin flat-white texture or a thicker cappuccino foam without accepting a preset.
Wipe the wand immediately after every drink, then purge it. Dried milk turns a ten-second habit into scrubbing. Independent testing also found that the portafilter can take a firm hand to lock. Neither issue is unusual for a semi-automatic machine, but both matter to buyers with limited grip strength.
Drip coffee without a carafe
The coffee side is best understood as mug brewing, not a replacement for a 10-cup family brewer. Select 6, 8, 10, or 12 ounces and choose Classic, Rich, or Over Ice. Use the brew ratio calculator as a taste reference, but let the machine's scale handle the working dose.
Mini versus Premier
| Decision | Mini ES301 | Premier ES601 |
|---|---|---|
| Counter space | 10.24 in wide | 12.99 in wide |
| Milk | Manual steam wand | Hands-free frothing |
| Coffee | Classic, Rich, Over Ice | Drip plus rapid cold brew |
| Best buyer | Hands-on, compact setup | Automatic milk convenience |
The price gap was $150 when checked: $449.99 for the Mini and $599.99 for the Premier at list price. Do not pay the extra simply because the Premier is “better.” Pay it if automatic frothing and rapid cold brew are worth both the money and counter width.
Research notes
Facts were checked August 8, 2026 against Ninja's current ES301 product page, Best Buy's ES301 listing and syndicated owner rating, and independent hands-on testing. Ninja listed a one-year warranty, 60 grinder settings, weight-based dosing, manual steaming, five brew styles, and a $449.99 US price. The product is new, so long-term durability remains an open question.
